I just tried out the new boxed set of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. I think Fantasy Flight has a great idea with the boxed set and what you get with it.

I like the card idea. Damage cards are different, if you take 4 damage and you have to turn 1 over, you never know what it will be. It's almost exciting to get hit, you never know what will happen. Kind of reminds me of a Deck of Many Things from D&D, except there won't be anything good. It is the Warhammer world after all.

The Dice are great. It's so nice to have something different than roll your d20 or d10 and add your bonuses, that was getting boring. For me it's a unique dice system, i've never played any RPG remotely similar to this system. Circumstances give you extra or different dice to your pool. Good circumstances give you dice to roll that may grant you bonuses and bad circumstances grant you dice to roll than may give you a bad effect.

Initiative is great and unique also. If everyone has a different initiative, you don't get to go on your initiative, the party decides who goes on that initiative. This is where tactics and party teamwork come into it.

It's not played on a board like D&D 3.0, 3.5, 3.75(Pathfinder), 4.0 etc..... It's more old school, use your imagination!

I could go on. I give the game an A+, 2 thumbs up. When D&D went from 2nd ed to 3rd, there was such a huge improvement in the tactical and mechanical play of the game, I was impressed. Thats going from D&D to D&D. This game is such a huge improvement from any other RPG. I view it as all the other RPG's together on one side (similar) and this one is unique, great, different than all the others. I would hope new RPG's copy/follow the lead Fantasy Flight Games is going.

That is my opinion as a player.

When's the next game at the store?

I would love to try this new system out.
